5 out of 5 stars Joni Fans Rejoice!
author: Bob Muller

Joni Mitchell may have released her first album in 1968, but the period of '66-'68 was incredibly prolific for her.
Song To A Seagull contained her more recent work and left dozens of SUPERB songs behind.
Big Yellow Taxi has re-discovered these gems and re-configured them with a multitude of musical colors,
updating the styling but staying true to Joni's composition and emotion. Christina's crystal clear voice navigates the
sometimes-tricky melodies with ease, and Henning and band excel in their musicianship.
The result is an amazing album of lovely songs that would have been big hits had Joni released them on her own.
Get this now and prepare to be amazed!

5 out of 5 stars Christina's voice is incredibly like Joni Mitchell's
author: Howard Homler
I thought Christina's voice is incredibly like Joni Mitchell's. I loved Carnival in Kenora, but swear I heard it
on the radio 30 years ago in Los Angeles... had been wondering who wrote it all these years!! I got the CD
for that song, but love the rest, too. I hope that Big Yellow Taxi will do some original work--especially if
they can write lyrics and music as well as play..

“Unknown and Famous Songs of Joni Mitchell” by Big Yellow Taxi is a delightfully serene acoustic
interpretation of songs by entertainment icon Joni Mitchell. The first thing that jumps out to listeners is the
graceful instrumentation present on this CD – pacifying acoustic arrangements backed by soothing
percussion. Above this instrumentation, the incredible vocals on this CD are quite comforting and very
reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, including the effective use of falsetto. “A Case of You” introduces the lovely
sounds of the grand piano, and demonstrates Big Yellow Taxi’s perfectly toned vocals! “California” hails an
acoustic intro that is very enticing and guest stars an accentuating electric guitar melody. As far as production
goes, these tunes are all refined up and ready for consumption! Fans of Joni Mitchell will find themselves in
paradise when listening to this CD!

With Christina Friis crystal clear vocals and Henning Olsen's impressive acoustic and electric guitars,
an evocative collection of (my favorite Joni Mitchell) songs that sounds both modern and timeless are reborn.
Including the three unreleased songs.
Big Yellow Taxi creates a mood that's alluring. It's very sensual, draws you in, and stays there for the whole record.
A big congratulations to all of the musicians- Friis, Olsen, Ewert, Gustafsson, Skovgaard, Klinke,
and Olesen for successfully recreating  the classic songs of an innovative, poetic, and inspiring artist-Joni Mitchell.

5 out of 5 starsAn old friend of Joni!

As far as reviewing your work on Joni's unreleased works what I can say so far
is that your work is excellent to this very discerning ear.  Not only is your
musicianship perfectly correct but you have also captured the feeling and the magic
of her creations and it's really like sitting there in the audience so many years ago.
Here's wishing you...  All The Best,    Pat,

Very nice covers of several of Joni's best known songs. But the covers of Joni's previously-unrecorded
"Come to the Sunshine," "The Way It Is," and "Carnival in Kenora" are priceless!

5 out of 5 starsA stunning tribute to an amazing artist

Joni Mitchell is one of the finest composers of our time, and it's always a bit daunting
to attempt an entire album full of her challenging  songs, but Big Yellow Taxi certainly prove  themselves up for
the challenge. Henning uses a full band of 5 players on guitars, sitar, organ, piano, percussion, harmonica,
and Christina's vocals glide through these melodies, some of which (California, The Gallery)
require a strong vocal range and are not tried by too many, and of course
the REAL thrill here is the inclusion of three Joni-penned songs that Joni never released herself.
For Joni fans, these three songs are a revelation, and coupled with the musicianship and quality of
the performances all around make this disc one that you'll enjoy again & again

but it looks like more will be available. These are GORGEOUS covers
and I really hope a copy somehow makes its way to Joni. Wowohwow. Thanks for the alert""""

When I heard a few fragments on CD Baby I couldn’t believe that this Joni Mitchell tribute group
didn’t contain any Joni Mitchell herself, because the group is much more than a Joni-alike.
They’re almost like twins, in soul and matter. Of course it is because singer Christina Friis
has not only a similarly coloured voice, she is able to give the same range and singing technique.
I’m not surprised this is Joni Mitchell approved. Besides that the arrangements have their own vision,
and everything reveals a purity and honesty which counts heavily.

5 out of 5 stars"WHOA. I'll say!
I just listened to the clip of "The Way It Is" on the site,
and just the 2 minutes I got to hear blew my mind! In addition to Christina's superb vocal,
there's some very psychedelic guitar work! When was this song written? Sounds like it was
written around the same time as STAS Thanks for sharing this with us, (name!)
I'll be buying at least one copy of this CD -- and that's based on just 2 minutes of this one
song. Can't wait to listen to the rest!!
